Vida "Marie" Reed Pope

Vida "Marie" Reed Pope, age 92, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025 in Wiggins, MS

Marie was born November 27, 1932, in Louisville, MS, to Eva Houston Reed and Amzie Price Reed. She was a graduate of Louisville High School graduating as the class salutatorian. Marie worked as a court reporter for the Judge Advocate General's Office at Keesler Air Force Base until her retirement in 1988. She was very active in her churches of many years, Epworth United Methodist and Leggett United Methodist, serving as a kindergarten teacher and the church treasurer. Marie was an avid bowler and outdoorsman who loved to hike, canoe, fish and swim. She absolutely loved to travel with family and friends taking several cruises and overseas trips. Marie loved her rescue dogs, especially Dolly and Sweetie.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Eva Houston Reed and Amzie Price Reed; her husband of almost 50 years, Norman Patrick Pope, Sr.; her outdoor adventure partner, Van Yates, during the later years of her life; her deceased siblings, Carl Reed, Horace Reed, Arnold Reed, Prentis Reed, Harold Reed, Vera Reed Williamson, Vada Reed Loyd, and Viola Reed Johnson. 

Marie is survived by her son, Norman Patrick Pope, Jr. (Karla); daughter, Dr. Donna Pope (David); Grandchildren, Christopher Samuel Pope, Jonathan Paul Pope, James Paxton Pope, Peyton Marie Farve (Hunter), Emily Anne Siegel (Rebecca), Jacob Charles Siegel. and Grace Marie Siegel; and one great grandchild, Selena Marie Matos-Pope.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February, 22, 2025 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road in Biloxi. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
