Mrs. Virgie Mae Thibodeaux Verheeck, age 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2012, in Snellville, Georgia.
Mrs. Verheeck, affectionately called "Te Mae" by her friends and family, was born in Biloxi, MS. She met her husband, S/Sgt. Prosper Verheeck, at a dance and they married in 1954 after he completed his last tour of duty. After her marriage, she traveled to USM and Mississippi State University with her husband and worked to assist in supporting them until he finished his Engineering degree. They moved to Ocean Springs in 1960 and lived there together for over 50 years. They loved to travel together and visited many destinations both domestic and international. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs, Queen of Les Pierrots in 1968, and was an accomplished home seamstress and crocheter. Mrs. Verheeck was devoted to her family, tending to her mother during the year between her stroke and death and enjoyed meeting up with family and dining at the Biloxi Casinos. She moved to Snellville, Georgia earlier this year to be closer to her daughter.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Prosper Edward Verheeck, brother, Ralph (Sylvia) Thibodeaux, daughter, Stacey (Kevin) Morton and a granddaughter, Sarah Morton.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 9, 2012, from 6 pm until 8 pm, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Monday, December 10, 2012, there will be a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. where friends may call one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
