Virginia "Sue" Banks Sommer

Virginia “Sue” Banks Sommer, 84, of Vancleave, MS passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023. Sue was born June 13, 1939 in Crisp County, GA to Hoyt and Kate Banks.

Sue was a long-time resident of Panama City, FL, but has lived on the MS Gulf Coast for the last 15 years. She worked at Bay County Medical as a unit clerk, as well as, Tommy Thomas Chevrolet in Panama City. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies who she loved immensely.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt and Kate Banks; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Marlene (Mike) Urbani of Vancleave, MS; son, Steve (Cindy) Sommer of Senoia, GA; sister, Frances Nelson of Lynn Haven, FL; brother, Morris Banks of Jupiter, FL; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. They would also like to thank the nurses and techs at Ocean Springs Hospital 2 East and S ICU for all they did to make this journey easier.
