Virginia "Ginny" Moran Poulos

Virginia “Ginny” Moran Poulos, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Ginny was born in Lancaster, Ohio on June 27, 1943. At the age of 13, her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she graduated from Paxon High School and received her education in cosmetology. She later trained as an esthetician in New York City and in Hammond, Louisiana. Ginny was a resident of Biloxi for almost 50 years. Before her retirement she was a business partner in Creations Hair and Skin Salon in Biloxi. She was the recipient of the 1998 Governor’s Volunteer Excellence Award for “Outstanding Service to Mississippi’s Senior Citizens,” in recognition of her providing free hair services to Professional Home Health homebound patients. During her career, she offered her professional services as a make-up artist to various carnival krewes and for special occasions. Ginny was a member and a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Biloxi Elks Lodge 606. She was active in Bon Vivants during the 1980s. Ginny loved to travel and was an avid Pokeno player. Ginny had the rare gift of not only making people look good, but to also feel good about themselves. Her bright smile and her caring and generous nature will be missed by friends and family. Ginny is preceded in death by her father, Obie Smith. She is survived by her husband, Rip Poulos; her mother, Mrs. Jessie Clive; her daughter Hollie Moran Hardison; her son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Aimee Moran; her step-children, Rip Poulos, Jr. (Marion), Lewis Poulos (Lette), Deena Poulos (Allen), and Craig Poulos; her grandchildren, Candace Rainey, Lexie Hardison, Lincoln Hardison, Jr., Billy Hardison, Aubrey Moran, Noah Moran, and Ian Moran; and one great-grandchild, Xavier Little. Visitation will be on Friday, May 3, 2013, from 5 pm to 6 pm for family, and from 6 pm to 8 pm for friends at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11 am at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, followed by a private graveside service at the Moran Cemetery on Santa Cruz St. in D’Iberville.
