Virginia Price, 92, of Sicily Island, LA, died peacefully in the company of family in Ocean Springs, MS, where she had been receiving long term care. A native of Franklin Parish, LA, she was born Virginia Lee Dent to Marian Dent and Estelle Herrington.
Virginia grew up in Sicily Island, where she attended the local schools, cheerleading and playing basketball. Around that time, she met her future husband Richard Guy (RG) Price Jr. Virginia and RG made a life together in Sicily Island, where she was the last surviving charter member of Sicily Island First Baptist Church.
During and after raising a family, she worked for almost 40 years for the US Postal Service. Later in life, she could be seen attending both Sicily Island First Baptist and Sicily Island Methodist, while sometimes even squeezing in a visit to Harrisonburg Methodist – often on the same Sunday. Those who knew her knew that she was always on the go.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, sister Bobby June Black, and son Richard Guy Price III.
She is survived by son Robert Price (Sherry) of Sicily Island, LA, daughter Terrie Price (Gary) of Ocean Springs, MS, daughter Jerrie Russell, daughter-in-law Margaret Ann Price, brother-in-law Roland Black and Margaret Lee, seven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and friends. Virginia truly never met a stranger.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 10:00am at the Methodist Church on 608 Newman Street in Sicily Island, followed by a gravesite interment at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you plant a tree, bush, or perennial flower and that you remember Virginia when you see it.
