Vondell Miller

“Then, casting her eyes backward on the race which she had run, she shouted loud “Hosanna, Deliverance has come”. 

On Monday October 14, 2024, our beloved Alyce Vondell Ware Miller was delivered unto that Grace of which she had sung all her life, and she now sings in the Heavenly chorus with those who’ve gone before. 

Vondell was born on April 27, 1958, to Florian G. Ware and Gertrude “Trudy” Vondell Fairly Ware Browder of Vancleave, MS. She was a resident of Jackson County, MS and sang in churches and at camp-meetings since she was a child. In recent years Vondell sang with her brother F. G. (Gresham) and sister-in-law Lisa Stokes Ware as well as the Southern Gospel Group “Decision”. 

A loving wife, Vondell was adored by her devoted husband of 37 years, John Miller. The affection they shared was contagious and brought joy and laughter to those fortunate enough to be in their presence. Someone said that everything got better when Vondell got there, she was so much fun! 

Vondell loved her children, Wesley Richton Hall and Gretchen Vondell Warkentien as well as her grandchildren, Khloe Alexis Hall, Ava Grace Hall, Brentlee Vondell Warkentien, Baylor Ian Warkentien and Blakelyn Jude Warkentien immensely. The joy they shared together was a heartwarming sight to behold. 

Vondell leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, John Miller; brothers, F. G. (Lisa) Ware and Roland Hill (LaJoyce) Ware; sister, Elva Michelle (David) Stewart; along with her beautiful children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins of many generations. 

Visitation will be held at the New Prospect Campground: 17001 Campground Rd., Vancleave, MS, on Friday, October 18, 2004, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Huffman officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery: 13900 Mt. Pleasant Road, Vancleave, MS.
