Walter "Walt" Stanley Johnston, 79, of Biloxi died Wednesday, February 3, 2010. Walt was born February 13, 1930 in Waveland, MS. Walt was a devoted husband and father and a lifetime member of the Carpenter's Local 1846 Union. He retired from the Broadwater Beach Hotel where he served as assistant superintendent for 28 years. He loved fishing in Georgia with his buddies, J. J. and T. P. Bramblett and enjoyed working in his shop often making crosses that he generously gave to others. Walt was a US Army veteran and also served in the Merchant Marines. He was of the Baptist faith.
Walt is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin P. and Eleanor Fayard Johnston, Sr.; sisters, Delores Johnston and Miriam Livacarri; brothers, Edwin P. Johnston, Jr., Louis Johnston and a son, Jesse Killgore.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Grace Bramblett Johnston; sister, Eleanor Ragsdale and husband, Bobby of Kiln; sister-in-law, Joan Johnston and family of Ocean Springs/Biloxi; children, Edward Killgore and his wife Doris of Perkinston, Linda Killgore Bond of Biloxi, Walter Diamond and wife Elisha of New Orleans, Louis Johnston, Jr. and wife Denise of Chalmette, Steve Powell and wife Kim of Gulfport, Libby Richmond and husband Scott of Biloxi, Tommy Killgore of Biloxi, David Diamond and wife Rayann of Covington, Kevin Diamond and wife Billie of Lumberton; twenty grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, West Biloxi. Friends may visit from 12:00 pm until service time.
