Walter "W.L" Dye

Mr. Walter "W.L." Dye, age 86, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015, in Ocean Springs. Walt was a 1947 graduate of Biloxi High School and served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. Upon retiring in 1970, he accepted a position as the Parks and Recreation Director in the town of Tehachapi, CA. Retiring from there after 10 years, he moved back to his home state of Mississippi and accepted the position of Assistant Director of the Ocean Springs YMCA. At the age of 60 he opened his own business, "Cabinets by Walt". He was a master craftsman, retiring in 2005, and loved eating at "Mikeys On The Bayou". Walt was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Caillavet Dye. Survivors include his daughter, Susan (Curtis) Lloyd, sons, Scott (Sheila) Dye and Kevin Dye, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two-great-great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend, very well loved and will be greatly missed. On Friday, March 13, there will be a 9 am graveside service in Biloxi National Cemetery. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral services.
