Warren G. Edwards, Sr., age 86, died on Dec. 30, 2008 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC.
Warren was born in Nash County, NC in 1922. He served in the Navy from 1941 to 1961. From 1966-1982 he was employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi as a Professional Relations Representative and Manager of Medical Assistant Liaisons.
Warren and his family were residents of Clinton, MS from 1963-1982 and were members of Mt. Salus Presbyterian Church. Warren resided in Gulfport, MS from 1988-2005, the last four years at the Navy Retirement Home. Since 2005 he has lived at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington DC.
Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Josa Lee Jordan Edwards; his son, Warren G. “Skip” Edwards, Jr.; his brother Levy Edwards of Clinton, NC; his sisters Annie Bell Narron and Mamie Dorsey of Rocky Mount, NC.
He is survived by his daughter, Angella Edwards of Jackson, MS; his son Jeffrey Douglas Edwards of Maryland; and numerous nephews and nieces in Virginia and North Carolina.
Visitation will be held on Wed., Jan. 7 at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson from 10:00-11:00. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 at the Clinton Cemetery. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on 15th St. in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Navy Relief Society or to the charity of your choice.
