Wawice Eugenia “Genie” Palmer was born in Gulfport, MS on April 7, 1952 and passed away on October 15, 2022, in Greenville, MS, after a lengthy illness.
Genie was a graduate of Gulfport High School, attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO, and graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans, LA, with a degree in Fine Arts. Despite a lifelong struggle with mental illness, Genie was steadfast in her love of God and his blessings, and found great enjoyment in sketching and painting. She was generous in sharing her artwork with friends, family, and strangers. Genie found solace in her study of the Bible.
Genie was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Joanne Palmer of Gulfport.
She is survived by her sister, Jan Palmer Noll of Atlanta; niece, Elizabeth Cunningham (AJ); nephew, Owen Noll (Giselle); and 5 great nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Palmer family.
