Wayne Jackson, age 72, of Saucier died Thursday, December 30, 2010 in Saucier.
He had been a resident of the Gulf Coast for 45 years.
He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring with the Sea Bees in 1974 and also worked for MS Power Company retiring in 1994 with 20 years of service. He recently celebrated 50 years of marriage to his wife, Ruth.
He was a father of three and grandfather to all, so many know him as PaPa Wayne. He loved his family and grandchildren. He was always willing to help anybody in need. Wayne was a hard working man and a good provider for his family. He loved the outdoors and hunting with his family. PaPa Wayne will be missed by so many people that he has touched in his life. God looked down and needed a man that could do so much with his hands and his heart, and brought husband, father and grandfather home. You will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Flora Jackson; a brother, David Jackson; and a daughter-in-law, Robin Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Jackson of Saucier; a daughter, Pam (Jeff) Ulrich of Saucier; two sons, David (Ginger) Jackson and Michael (Aimee) Jackson, all of Saucier; a sister, Duane Calloway of Montgomery, AL; two brothers, James (Ann) Jackson and Tom (Sue) Jackson, all of Montgomery, AL; six grandchildren, Brittney Jackson, Bethney Jackson, Madison Ulrich, Taylor Ross, Bryant Jackson, and Myleigh Jackson; and one great-grandchild Carolyne Voytko.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 6~8:00 P.M. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport. The funeral service is Monday, January 3, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with burial following at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
