Mr. Wayne Elmer Werkau, 83, passed away Friday, June 10, 2005, at Quality Hospice Care Facility in Biloxi.
Mr. Werkau was born July 31, 1921, in Gilman, Illinois and was one of the first soldiers stationed at Keesler AFB. It was there that he met his wife of 63 years, Grace Viator. Mr. Werkau served in WW II and retired from civil service at Keesler AFB in 1981. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Biloxi.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Werkau, of Biloxi; his son, John Russell Werkau and his wife, Betty, of D'Iberville; two daughters, Karen Kahler and her husband, Ed, of Meridian, MS and Janaet Sivori of Biloxi; one sister, Vernabel Crane and her husband, Robert, of Ocean Springs; grandchildren, Kelly Werkau and Donna Hancock of D'Iberville; S/Sgt. Kevin Kahler and his wife, Tina, of Wichita, KS; Karlene Foret and her husband, Chris, of Biloxi; Kristin Kahler of Carmel, CA; Stephanie Sivori of Biloxi; Rhonda and Terry Jones of Ocean Springs; Randy and Stephanie Myers of Wiggins and M/Sgt. Brad Hodges of Ft. Bragg, NC and four great grand children.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at 2 p. m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, Division Street, where friends may visit one hour before service time. Burial will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery.
