William (Bill) Cham Schofield, Jr.

William Cham Schofield, Jr., (Bill) passed on to his heavenly home on May 10, 2009. Bill was born on July 30, 1944 in Gainesville, Florida. He was a resident of Biloxi for 27 years, retiring from the United States Air Force as a S/MSGT in 1986 and from civil service as a GS-9 in 2006 as a dental laboratory technician for more than 40 years. Bill was a godly man who loved Jesus, his family and his friends with all of his heart. He faithfully served the Lord in his daily life and through his commitment at Brodie Road Baptist Church. As a member since 1982, Bill served as a deacon, an elder and in numerous leadership roles. With a passion to reach out to people, his greatest honor in church service was teaching a variety of Sunday school classes over the course of 30 years. Bill was an avid fisherman, reader and gardener. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and he enjoyed a full and blessed life with those who love him very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willaim Cham Schofield and Ann Wood Schofield of Gainesville, Florida. Survivors include his devoted wife of 43 years, Nellie Clark Schofield; their son, William Cham Schofield, III and his wife, Karen Brinson Schofield of Coffeyville, Kansas; their daughter, Amy Schofield Collins and her husband, Paul Collins of Azle, Texas; their eight grandchildren: Clark, Joe Bethany and Brynn Schofield, Jack, Sam, Ben and Lauren Collins; sisters, Annabeth Schofield of Biloxi and Judeen Schofield Williams of Pensacola, Florida; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be sent to: Son Shine Ministries, P.O. Box 456, Azel, Texas 76020. A celebration of Bill's life on earth and his transition to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be held at Brodie Road Baptist Church in D'Iberville, MS on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. where friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment with Full Military Honors at Biloxi National Cemetery.
