CPO., Ret., William “Bill” R. Pingel, 74, of D’Iberville, MS passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2012 following a long illness.
Bill was born in St. Louis, MO on September 22, 1938 to Bud and Pearl Pingel. He grew up in Overland, MO where he attended Ritenour High School and graduated in 1956. Upon graduation, Bill joined the United States Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer after 22 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Theresa “Dee” E. Pingel; and his parents, Robert “Bud” and Pearl Pingel of Lonedell, MO.
He is survived by his sister, Judy Humphrey and her husband Russ of Lonedell, MO; his sons, Larry Pingel and his wife Cathie and Chris Pingel all of Medford, OR and David Coke and his wife Angie of Terry, MS; his daughters, Patty Spiers and Becky Mansfield and her husband Brian, all of Biloxi, MS and Dawn Coke-Davis and her husband John of Byram, MS; his grandchildren, Ashley Mansfield, Jessica Mansfield, Kathryn Mansfield, Matthew Davis, Joseph Spiers, Aimee Coke, Kelly Morgan Coke and Brody and Hannah Pingel; two nieces; one great nephew; three great nieces; one great-great niece; one great-great nephew; and numerous long time family friends. He will be sadly missed by all who love him and knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to MGC Honor Flight, c/o Kiwanis Division 14 Foundation, 2000 24th, Gulfport, MS 39501.
A graveside service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
