Maj. William O. “Billy” McClellan, Jr., 81, of Biloxi died Sunday, April 7, 2013 in Biloxi.
Billy was married to his high school sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Doris Catherine Tiblier McClellan. He was a retired officer in the U.S.M.C. He served his country for 26 years with pride. Billy was a Disbursing Officer for 25 years of his service time. He was excellent in disbursing and served the military with less than 1% error. Billy was sought after from many offices. After two tours in Vietnam he decided to retire. His next duty station was to be Washington, D.C., but he declined, even though he was promised and approved the rank of Lt. Colonel. He received many medals for different accomplishments in the military. He was the president of the Rod and Gun Club during his military career in Jacksonville, NC.
Billy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church after converting to Catholicism. He had many years coaching for the D’Iberville Little League where he was able to enjoy coaching his sons. He was a loving husband and a very disciplined,dedicated and loving father. He married his high school sweetheart, Doris Tiblier and they remained sweethearts for 59 years.
Billy is at peace now with his Heavenly Father. We will miss our leader immensely.
His survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 59 years, Doris Tiblier McClellan; his children, William Oakley (Rhonda) McClellan, III, Robert Doyle (Micki) McClellan, Randall Byron (Robin) McClellan and his only daughter, Pamela McClellan (Larry) Toncrey; his grandchildren, William Oakley McClellan, IV, Brooke Leighanne Toncrey Rushing, Megan Ashleigh Toncrey Berry, Stacy Ann McClellan, Robert Doyle McClellan, Jr., Mattie Burgin McClellan and Randall Byron McClellan, II; and his great-grandchildren, Jayde Austin Toncrey, Gaige Michael Rushing, Gavin Dale Berry, Jordan Berry and “Due” June 15th, Aubree Catherine Rushing.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Mississippi Chapter, 1900 Dunbarton Dr. Suite H, Jackson, MS 39216 or to any heart foundation of one’s choice.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until mass time.
