William C. "Bill" McManus

Mr. William C. "Bill" McManus, 80, of Biloxi died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 in Covington, GA. Mr. McManus served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. McManus was a retired executive of Centerpoint Energy formerly Entex Gas Company. A former member of the Biloxi City Council 1981- 1985, where he served as Council President. In December 2004 the Biloxi City Council renamed Pennzoil Park to Pennzoil-McManus Park in his honor . Former member of the Salvation Army, the United Way, the Lion's Club, the F &AM in Columbia, MS, the Biloxi Rotary Club, the Administrative Board of the First United Methodist Church in Biloxi, St. Albans Lodge #60, Scottish Rite Bodies in Gulfport, Gulf Coast Joppa Shrine Temple in Biloxi, the Biloxi Yacht Club and the Sunkist Country Club. Mr. McManus was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Barksdale McManus, and his parents, William Cooper and Olivia Thompson McManus. Mr. McManus is survived by three daughters, Mary Jon Lucas and her husband Richard of Pascagoula, MS, Becky Harrison and her husband Rex of Covington, GA, and Clara McManus of Metairie, LA; two sisters, Sue Amos of Hazelhurst, MS and Catherine Kellogg of Tuscola, IL; four grandchildren, Robin Hunter and Will Hunter of Woodstock, GA, Cooper Lucas of Jackson, MS and Wesley Lucas of Pascagoula, MS. Visitation will be Friday, February 17, 2006 at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Services will be Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 10:00am at the First United Methodist Church in Biloxi where friends may visit one hour prior to service time. Burial to follow in Southern Memorial Park. The family prefers memorials to First United Methodist Church 124 Hopkins Blvd. Biloxi, MS 39530.
