William George "Bill" Hughes

William George "Bill" Hughes, age 72, of Long Beach died Friday, February 23, 2007 in Long Beach. Mr. Hughes was born in Columbus, Ohio and had been a resident of Long Beach since 1994, moving from Madison, MS where he had resided for 25 years. He was a graduate of Ohio State University and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Navy and received the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was a retired supervisor with American General. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Carson Hughes of Long Beach; two daughters, Renae Cartwright and husband, Michael of Orlando, FL and Dawn Hughes of Jacksonville, FL; two step-daughters, Sabrina Lee and husband, Brian and Julie McNeely and husband, Greg, all of Madison, MS; a step-son, James Gerald Haney of Jackson, MS; five grandchildren, Eric Harvey and Alisha Harvey of Jacksonville, FL, Brad Ingram, Allison Henle and Ashley Henle, all of Madison; two great-grandchildren, Allison Danielle Harvey and Richard James Harvey. The family extends special thanks to the LA-MS Hospice to his caregiver, Charisse Monroe, and to JoAn Nicely. Visitation will be Monday evening February 26, 2007 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport, with the Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Daughtery Road, Long Beach. Serving as pallbearers will be Chappy Sory, Jim Williams, David LaRouchelle, Steve Nelson, and David Thomas and Jesse Tupaz will serve as honorary pallbearers. The interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Madison, MS. The family prefers memorials to St. Thomas Catholic Church Building Fund,Long Beach, MS 39560.
