William Guy Mitchell, age 89, of Gulfport, died Saturday, December 29, 2007 in Gulfport.
He was born in Russellville, AL and was a resident of Gulfport for 50 years. He was a member and deacon of Cowan Road Baptist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church, Gulfport.
He served in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater and was a graduate of the University of North Alabama. Mr. Mitchell was a retired chemist with the EPA and worked for many years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Mitchell; a daughter, Kathleen Mitchell; two sons, William C. Mitchell and wife, Angela, and John R. Mitchell, all of Gulfport; a sister, Ethel Black of Birmingham, AL; a brother, Jerry R. Mitchell of Decatur, AL; and three grandchildren, Emily K. Mitchell of Washington D.C., Adam W. Mitchell of New Orleans, LA, and Laura E. Mitchell of Gulfport.
Private services were held at Biloxi National Cemetery.
