William “Bill” Thomas Hutchinson, age 91, was a resident in the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH) in Gulfport, MS. He was born on July 28, 1930, in Bexar Country, Texas and was a son of Texas. He lived in Duncanville, TX, prior to relocating to the AFRH.
Bill spent a distinguished career with the United States Air Force. He attained the rank of E8 Senior Master Sergeant. He completed a tour in Korea and three combat tours in Vietnam. During his military career Bill received many awards and decorations, including the Air Force Commendation Medal (3) Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster and the Outstanding Unit Award with Bronze Oak Leaf. Upon retirement, he competed on a national level in high power rifle silhouette. He was proud to be a life member of the National Rifle Association and the Texas State Rifle Association.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Milton Hutchinson and Annie Lou Crumly Hutchinson. He is survived by his adopted son, Michael Powell (Yvette) and grand dogs, Lafitte and Scarlet, who did not leave his side during visits.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical staff in Towers C and D at the AFRH for their care, love, and support of Bill.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, MS.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at the Biloxi National Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Homes, 675 Howard Avenue, Biloxi, MS.
