William James Trest, Sr. 86, of Pass Christian died Wednesday,March 30, 2005 in Gulfport. He
was born in Sandersville, MS and had been a resident of the Gulf Coast over 60 years. He
was a member and deacon of Pineville Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Trest was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 307th Fighter Squadron and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1979. He was also retired from Civil Service. He was a member of the VFW, National Guard Officers Assn., Retired Officers Assn., Anzio Beachhead Veterans Assn., NARFE, a 32nd degree mason, member of Gulfport Masonic Lodge #422 and also a member of the Scottish Rites.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie May Schaub Trest of Pass Christian; two sons, William James "Jim" Trest, Jr. of Northville, MI and Richard John Trest of Goodlettsville, TN; a sister, Ada Mae Godlewski of Williamsport, PA;
two brothers, J. D. Trest of Hattiesburg, and Harry Lynn Trest of Columbus, OH; five grandchildren and one great- granddaughter.
The visitation will be Sunday, April 3, 2005, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe
Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. The funeral service will be Monday, April 4, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
