William John Buchanan, Jr.

Mr. William John Buchanan, Jr., son of William John Buchanan, Sr. and Esther Mathews, died Friday, August 19, 2005, in the Biloxi Veterans Hospital. Mr. William Buchanan was born in Lackawanna County, Scranton, PA. His main profession was in service to his country for over 20 years in the army, army air coprs and air force. He served in WW II and the Korean war. He received numerous medals and ribbons for his service. Upon retirement from military service, he continued civil service for his home state of Pennsylvania. After retirement, he continued to work and provide for his family until the disease of Alzheimers became too great for him to cope with daily tasks. Mr. Buchanan was baptised at St. Pauls in Scranton, PA. Mr. William John Buchanan is predeceased by his brother, Archibald Buchanan, and his parents as mentioned above. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Ann Murray, to whom he married on August 8, 1949, and recently had his 56th wedding anniversary, and his sister, Lillian Buchanan Hoffman of Mill City, PA. Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan had four children, Ruth Ann Buchanan, Patricia May Buchanan, Janice Lynn Buchanan, and William John Buchanan, III. Of which had eight grandchildren and one grand step daughter; Catherine Marie Howell, Christopher Brian Robinson, Eric William Robinson, Ashley Marie Robinson, Thomas Michael Ferguson, Brandon Michael Ferguson, June Michelle Pierce, William John Buchanan, V, and Gavin James Buchanan. A Memorial service will be performed at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 24, 2005, from 11:30 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. A gathering will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors with an abbreviate service at 1 p.m. Go in peace and God Bless.
