William Lloyd Witham, Sr.

William L. Witham, Sr., Lt. Col. U.S.A.F. Retired, 85, of Ocean Springs, MS. died August 21, 2007 in Ocean Springs. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force retiring in 1963. As a pilot he flew many types of aircraft, including B-24's, B-25's and C-54's. He retired from the Civil Service in 1983 after 20 years where he worked as a pilot and maintenance officer for the Air Force. Mr. Witham has served as President of the Retired Air Force Association, Dover, Delaware Chapter where he also served as the Chapter Secretary and Treasurer. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He leaves behind his wife, Laurel C. Elder of Ocean Springs, MS., his three children, William L. Witham, Jr. of Dover, Delaware, Coralee Witham of Wilmington, Delaware and Melinda Zimmermann of Germany. Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Other children include, Bennie A. Furey, Dennia C. Furey, Amy C. Jones, Dennis, Christine. Survivors also include his two sisters, Mary and Martha Witham. Services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m., August 27, 2007 at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements made by Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, Biloxi.
