Rev. William E. “Bill” Overstreet, age 92, of Vancleave, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014.
Bill was a longtime resident of Vancleave. He was a World War II Veteran and retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding. He was a pastor at Magnolia Baptist Church in Vancleave and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Alta Loraine Overstreet; parents, Jake and Minnie Overstreet; daughter, Brenda Watts; sister, Louis Pierce; and brothers, Henry, John and Lloyd Overstreet.
Survivors include his daughters, Robin Lane and Edith Goff of Vancleave; sons, Norman Overstreet of Vancleave, Wiley Overstreet of Prentiss and Paul Overstreet of Nashville; sisters, Addie Overstreet, Jennie V. Carnley, Betty Wilson, Francis Hamilton and Inez White; brothers, R.V. and Roscoe Overstreet; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to be made to the Magnolia Baptist Church Building Fund, 2400 Magnolia Baptist Church Rd., Vancleave, MS 39565. 228-826-3880.
Services will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at Magnolia Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery. The Vancleave Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
