William Thomas Turner

Mr. William Thomas Turner, age 63, of Magnolia Place Apartments, Gautier, MS died Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Ocean Springs Hospital as a result of an extended respiratory illness. A native of Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Albert W. Turner of Polk Co., and Ruth Greene Rose of Baltimore, MD. He was also predeceased in death by a sister Kay Yingling, and brother Jack Turner, both of Baltimore, MD Surviving is a daughter Shelly A. Turner of Taipei, Taiwan, and a sister Jill Powers of Baltimore, MD. Mr. Turner served 9 years in the U.S. Army and was a highly decorated Viet Nam Veteran. He remained politically active with veterans’ affairs throughout his life and was instrumental in the establishment and design of the Viet Nam War Memorial in Washington, DC. After leaving the Army, Mr. Turner served as a police office for the City of Baltimore. Memorial services will be held at the Biloxi National Cemetery on January 25th at 10:00 AM, followed immediately by a graveside service with full military honors The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
