William Wallace Ray

Mr. William W. "Bill" Ray, age 86, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Wednesday, February 13, 2008, in Pascagoula. Mr. Ray was a resident of the community for 59 years. He was a Master Salesman for the Pontiac Division of the General Motors Corporation for 30 consecutive years, was active with the Ocean Springs High School Booster Club, sang gospel songs in local Baptist churches with his two daughters, and was a candidate for Alderman in Ocean Springs and State Representative. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus and Georgia Ray and two brothers, George Ray and Otto Ray. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Ruth Ray, of Ocean Springs, MS., four daughters, Rose Marie (Pete) Monroe of Charlotte, NC, Betty Jo (Jerry) Wright of Northport, AL., Christine Chandler of Ocean Springs, MS. and Mary (Ovid) Vickers of Raymond, MS, a son, Timothy (Carla) Chandler of Atlanta, GA., a sister, Jeweleen Schumaker of McCool, MS., two brothers, Garland Ray and Billy Joe Ray, both of McCool, MS., eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15, 2008, from 7-9 PM at the Ocean Springs Chapel in the West Parlor of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hinze Baptist Church Cemetery in Hinze, MS on Sunday.
