William Walter Vaughn David

William Walter Vaughn David, age 57, a resident of Ocean Springs, died Sunday, October 14, 2007 in Smyth County, Virginia. He was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on February 19, 1950. Will retired in 1992 after serving 22 years as a Security Policeman in the United States Air Force. Thereafter, he made his home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, first in Long Beach and had been a resident of Ocean Springs since 1999. He completed academic requirements for a Doctorate in Adult Education at USM and was nearing completion of his dissertation. Will truly loved life and shared that love with his family, friends and community through participation in numerous organizations and volunteer work including the Windsor Park Civic Association, BMW Riders of America and several motorcycle venues. He was an avid motorcyclist. Will was preceded in death by his father, James Herndon David, Jr. and his stepfather, Dr. James A. Shepherd. He leaves behind his loving wife of 25 years, Laurel; his dear friend, Donna Jacobus; his mother, Mrs. Laura Vaughn Shepherd of Montgomery, AL; two daughters, Rebecca Besbris and her husband David of Reston, VA and Barbara David of Sterling, VA; one grandson, Vaughn David; two granddaughters, Mara and Daisy Besbris; brothers, James H. David, III, John C. David and their families all of Mobile, AL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2007 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, thereafter friends are welcome to commemorate wills life at 11:00 a.m. Will never met a stranger. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends who were his extended family.
