Willie "Bert" Turnage

Willie “Bert” Turnage, age 90, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023. 

Bert was a long-time resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Earlier in life he joined the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. During his time in the service, he received a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Award. He later opened and co-owned C&B Automotive in Pascagoula, which operated for 20 years. Bert was a long-standing active member of the Elk’s Lodge of Pascagoula and a member of First Baptist Church in Ocean Springs. He was a loving husband to Joyce for 69 years. Bert was a wonderful and caring father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all family and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Myrtis Turnage; and his sister, Hazel Turnage. 

Bert’s survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Turnage; his daughter, Sandi Smith; his son-in-law, Jimmy Smith; and two granddaughters, Meagan and Lauren Smith. 

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Biloxi National Cemetery on Veterans Avenue in Biloxi, MS at 10:00am.
