Willis T. "Bill" Guild

Willis “Bill” T. Guild, Jr., age 79, passed away on November 19, 2007 in Gulfport. He was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast moving to the coast from Wiggins as a small child. He was a graduate of the Gulf Coast Military Academy and the Tulane School of Architecture. He began his architectural practice in Gulfport in 1953 and was a co-founder of Guild & Grace Architects. He practiced architecture along the Gulf Coast for over forty years and especially cherished the friendships and relationships he had with his long term clients such as the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, the South Mississippi Regional Center, and the Long Beach and Gulfport School districts. Mr. Guild was a past member of numerous civic, professional and social organizations including the Advisory Board of the Mississippi State School of Architecture, the Mississippi Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Gulfport Yacht Club and the Gulfport Jaycees. He is preceded in death by parents, Willis T. Guild, Sr. and Mary Louise Barnes Guild and his sister, Gloria Muse. He is survived by his four children, Dale Switzer of Gulfport, Cindy Flintjer of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; ,Taylor Guild (Sandy) of Gulfport and Jan Saucier (Rodney) of Biloxi; his grandchildren Jackson Switzer, Patrick Guild, Elisa Guild, Nikki Guild, Jason Saucier and Sean Saucier. He is also survived by his longtime partner and dear friend, Lloyd Grace. The family wishes to thank the staff of Lakeview Nursing Home in Gulfport for their compassionate care of Mr. Guild over the past several years.
