Pastor W. Leon Bivins, also known as “Bo”, “Went” or “Leon”, 72, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024 in Ocean Springs.
Pastor Bivins was born on February 7, 1952 in Ozark, AL to Ralph and Gladys Bivins. He attended Metallurgy School and studied welding and high-performance aircraft and missile systems. Pastor Bivins enlisted in the U. S. Air Force on June 8, 1970 and served his country until his retirement on August 1, 1991. Upon his retirement from the U. S. Air Force, he assumed the position as a Welding Instructor at The College and Career Technical Institute in Pascagoula. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, sports and watching Alabama football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gladys Bivins and Elizabeth Bivins; his son, Anthony Marcell; and his siblings, Shannon and Veronica.
Pastor Bivins’ survivors include his wife, Johnnie Mae Bivins; his children, Randall (Amaryliss), Michael (Shonda), Jonathan, Tamika (Seth) and Veronica; his siblings, Maxine (Keith), Aaron (Rosemary), David (Denise), Donna, Lanessa and Anthony; his grandchildren, Khadija, Qurhan, Kaleb, Micheala, Giotti, Amari, Nadia, Ayden and Sydney; and his great-grandchildren, Laela, Qu’Lani, Quban and Journi; and his pet, Sebastian.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to their Free Will Missionary Baptist Church family.
Funeral Services will be held at Free Will Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 1:00 pm. Friends may visit from 12:00 pm until service time. Interment will be held at Travelers Rest Cemetery in Ozark, AL on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
