Winifred Thornton Fest, 80 of Biloxi died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in Biloxi.
Ms. Fest was a native of Biloxi and known as Aunt Winnie. She was a member of East Howard Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was manager of the Election Polls at St. Michaels for many years, active in the P.T.A. when her children were in school. Education was very important to her.
Preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Fletcher Dumas Fest, parents, Wildon Charles and Alice Mae Levins Thornton and two infant sisters,
brother, Charles Wildon Thornton, great-great niece, Delilah Lynea Thornton.
Survivors include her sons, Fletcher D. Fest, Jr. and M. Charles "Chuckie" Fest of Biloxi, two nephews, Fred (Lisa) Thornton of St. Martin, Wildon Charles Thornton of Meridian, MS, three nieces, Alice Cecile Thornton of Meridian, Kathy (Jerry) Boudreaux of Meridian, MS, Vicki (Randy) Vanderwalker of Vancleave, two great nephews, Frederick (Casey) Thornton, Jr., of Vancleave, David Charles (Dreamer) Thornton of Vancleave and six great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Service is Monday, December 1, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Both will take place at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes. Interment is in Biloxi City Cemetery.
