Xim Ho Chan

Xim Ho Chan, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023. She was a longtime resident of Ocean Springs. Xim and her family moved to the MS Gulf Coast from Saigon, Vietnam on August 17, 1977. 

Xim is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Chan.  She is survived by her children, Jack (Chan), Tom (Linda), Lynn Van Pelt (David), and Billy (Lynette); her grandchildren, Courtney, Brandon, Henry, Lauren, Max, Taylor, Zoura, and Muriel.

Xim dedicated her life to helping the Vietnamese community living on the MS Gulf Coast.  She also worked as an interpreter for the Biloxi Health Department and occasionally was called to interpret for the Harrison and Jackson County Court systems.  Xim will be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched. 

The family would like to thank the teams of nurses and staff at the assisted living and hospice care facilities for the comfort care our mother received.

A celebration of Xim’s life will be scheduled in the Summer/Fall of 2023 at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to a charity of your choice in Xim’s name.
