Zoway Demet

Mrs. Zoway Broussard Demet, 93, of Biloxi, MS, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, in Biloxi. Mrs. Demet was a native of Youngsville, LA and had been a resident of Biloxi for the past 72 years, spending most of those years working in the Biloxi Seafood Industry. She was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. Mrs. Demet was preceded in death by her parents, Alcee and Aurelia Trahan Broussard; her husband, Noah Demet; two sisters, Electa Hightower and Bernice Songe; three brothers, Cliffey J. Broussard, Alcese Broussard and Nutley Broussard. Surviviors include her daughter, Velma Baker and her husband, Ronald, of Biloxi; her son, John Roger Demet of Pensacola, FL; one sister, Aline Thurman of Wynne, AR; seven grandchildren, Brenda Demet, Cynthia Powell, David Baker, Larry Baker, Ronald Baker, Jr., Thomas Baker and John Baker; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately called her their Te Taunte (little aunt). The family gratefully includes as survivors Vickie Preedom, Gloria King, Nick Bosarge and the entire staff of Saad's Home Health and Hospice Care, who gave "Miss Zoe" such loving care and devotion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at 12 noon at Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Cathedral where friends may visit from 10 a.m. till service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery. The Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
